Environmental & Sustainability Applications

Track Coordinators: Xiaolin Hu, Georgia State University & Alexandre Muzy, CNRS

The Environmental and Sustainability Applications track focuses on the usage of modeling and simulation technology for analysis and improvement of environmental and sustainability impact. We are interested in papers reporting about models, methods, tools and applications relevant to the evaluation and preservation of natural environment and resources, and the quality of life. This track covers environmental and sustainability modeling and simulation in a wide variety of application areas, including ecological systems, natural disasters, renewable resources, sustainable manufacturing, infrastructure and human-environment interaction. Furthermore, research on environmental and sustainability impact such as new ideas, concepts, methods, tools and standards are welcome.

Topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Environmental modeling, visualization, and optimization
  • Sustainable manufacturing applications/modeling, simulation, and analysis for energy/resource efficient manufacturing
  • Energy efficient and sustainable construction and buildings
  • Multi-Criteria-Analysis/Optimization for environmental applications
  • Decision support and analytics for sustainability
  • Modeling, simulation and analysis of Power grid/Smart grid
  • Modeling and simulation of natural disasters and their impact on the society
  • Modeling and simulation for sustainable infrastructure construction and operation
  • Modeling and simulation of renewable resources and related processes
  • Modeling and simulation of human-environment interaction
  • Ecological system modeling and simulation
  • Information modeling and interoperability for sustainability applications
